Bunnypalooza
This year- after eight years of living in the area- I decided that the Great Glebe Garage Sale was going to be a little too stressful for my autistic self to wade through.
So instead, I went to a rabbit convention.
As an organization, Bunnypalooza’s mandate is to:
Raise awareness of the proper care and companionship for house rabbits;
Fundraise for rabbit rescues of the Ottawa area;
Facilitate networking amongst the domestic rabbit community.

So, on May 23rd, I took myself to the Ron Kolbus Community Centre at Britannia Beach for some bunny loving.
And also to try and find Big Chungus.
Since rabbits are highly sensitive animals that can get overwhelmed by crowds and/or chaotic environments, this location was perfect. There were vendors, rescues, an indoor yard sale, and space for people to listen to experts give information on rabbit-related subjects. My $10 admission even got me a gift bag- which I gave to someone with an actual rabbit. And, of course, because people love their pets, there was also space for some glam rabbit photography.
Most of the rabbits in attendance were brought in by their people, usually in cute little strollers. There were rabbits for adoption, both real:
And stuffed:
These adoptable rabbits came complete with an official certificate.
But the real stars of the show were the furry family members that people brought themselves, cuties like:
Zorro, a brown and white friend who uses buttons to communicate,
Spike, a baby at just 8 weeks old,
And Nibbles, a large gray and white friend.
…and yes, for those who are wondering, I did, in fact, find Big Chungus.
His government name is Smudge.
